The RACQ paid the Sunshine Coast a visit late last year, and we had the pleasure of hosting journalist Belinda Peters, showing her some of the hidden secrets of the region. Belinda spent a couple of nights relaxing in the hinterland, discovering magical places like the Maleny Botanic Gardens, with its stunning views of the Glasshouse Mountains and one of the largest aviaries in Australia. She also explored our beautiful rainforest on our Luxe Trekking Package - a five hour guided walk from Lake Baroon to Kondalilla Falls plus a 4WD half day tour with OffBeat Eco Tours to the Conondale Great Walk to discover the amazing Andy Goldsworthy Strangler Cairn sculpture. Of course, a visit to the hinterland would not be complete without good food and wine - Flame Hill Winery and the Long Apron were favourites. The verdict? Well, you can read that for yourself in her article in the Feb/Mar 2015 edition of the Road Ahead. Click on the image to check it out. Read More

We were delighted to learn that Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat was recognised as one of the top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Australia in the 2014 TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards. “We are very proud to receive this award, it is an honour to receive such wonderful feedback from so many guests. We are always striving to improve the experience and our planned enhancements that will raise that the level of satisfaction even higher” said Mark Skinner, owner of Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat.

We are very pleased to announce free unlimited wifi for your next romantic getaway on the Sunshine Coast at Montville. Accommodation now includes unlimited access to the internet - just perfect for sharing your beautiful experiences in the rainforest with your friends and family. All cottages now feature their own personal wifi network, so you can stay in contact, even in the seclusion of the rainforest! Of course, we don't suggest that you should be working while you are holidaying, but it is nice to brag, just a little!
For those technically inclined, you can expect download speeds between 4-8Mbps, subject to traffic and prevailing weather conditions. More than enough to upload that perfect video of the king parrots feeding or the elusive koalas at play.
Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat has walked away from the Queensland Tourism Awards with their third consecutive win, earning them a well-deserved place in the Queensland Tourism Hall of Fame.
The beautiful boutique resort offers six self-contained cottages nestled in the pristine rainforest of the Sunshine Coast hinterland making it the perfect couples retreat.
The unmatched surroundings coupled with impeccable service makes Narrows Escape the obvious recipient of such recognition.
Taking out the top honours in the Hosted Accommodation category at this year’s Awards has again earned Narrows Escape entry into the tourism industry’s peak award, the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards which they won last year in Hobart. The event will be held at Luna Park, Sydney in February 2014.
This honour is awarded to the best of the best with only 2 other winners of the Hosted Accommodation category being inducted in the past 9 Years.
"Winning this award for the past three years has been incredible," said Narrows Escape co-owner, Mark Skinner. “And being inducted to the Hall of Fame is just the icing on the cake.”
“Becoming ‘Hall-of-Famers’ does mean that we can’t enter the competition for the next two years,” said Mark. “But that won’t stop us from making improvements so we can come back even better in 2016.”
Narrows Escape is preparing to renovate all their cottages having recently been awarded a $110,000 government grant, which will be matched dollar for dollar by Mark and Joanne.
The planned renovations are due to begin in February 2014 and the new and improved retreat will reopen in March.
Always striving to improve the local tourism industry as well as their resort, Mark and Joanne travel internationally to raise the profile of the little slice of heaven that is the Sunshine Coast.
"Our most recent trip was to Europe to visit key travel agents and encourage them to recommend the Sunshine Coast, and more specifically Narrows Escape, for travellers wanting to discover the natural beauty of Australian rainforest complemented by stunning coastline," said Mark.
